How to make a complaint
The Parson is committed to working within and adhering strictly to The Editors’ Code of Practice as published by the The Independent Press Standards Organisation.
However, if any person feels that The Parson has breached the Code in any way and wishes to make a complaint, they should submit their complaint in writing to the Editor at editor@theparson.co.uk.
How to submit a complaint
- All complaints must include the name and date of the publication, with reference to the specific article in question.
- Complaints must include a detailed description of the issue, with reference to specific words, phrases, images, instances, dates and records that are relevant, and the clauses of the Editors’ Code of Practice which you believe The Parson has breached.
Who can complain?
- Complaints must be made on behalf of a named individual only, including complaints where businesses or organisations are involved.
- In submitting a complaint, you must provide your full name, address, phone number, and email address.
What can I complain about?
- Complaints may be made about any article, feature, or advertisement published by The Parson.
- Complaints may also be made about the conduct of an individual journalist or employee of The Parson, with reference to the specific clauses of the Editors’ Code of Practice alleged to have been breached.
Time limit
- Complaints must be contemporaneous and submitted within six months of publication.
- The Parson will endeavour to respond to the complainant within 21 working days.
Complaints process
- The Editor will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within three working days.
- All complaints will be handled by the Editor of The Parson.
- The Editor will investigate the complaint in accordance with the Editors’ Code of Practice and respond accordingly.
- If a complaint is upheld, The Parson will inform the complainant of the remedial action taken or proposed.
- If the complainant is not satisfied with the proposed resolution, the complaint will be referred to independent arbitration.
Confidentiality
All information provided to The Parson will be handled sensitively and within the boundaries of the Data Protection Act 1998.
